Project Description
The project facilities the Twinning and Exchange Program to update and improve the official Waste Management Plan for the city of Madaba. The project deploys a participatory approach to gather data on the current status of waste management in the city, and to solicit widespread input from stakeholders on planning and improvements.
The project will also include the definition, and on-going support, for a tailor-made improvement project for the city. The tailor-made project will draw from the successes and lessons learned in the municipalities participating in the Twinning and Exchange Program.
Major Activities
- Deploy participatory methods for the update to the Madaba Waste Management Plan; and ensure the scope of the plan is aligned with the interests of the municipality and key stakeholders.
- Establish a roadmap of activities and benchmarks.
- Establish information flow procedures.
- Update the Madaba Waste Management Plan and project concept notes, including the information obtained in the City Waste Management Diagnostic Report.
- Facilitate the Twinning and Exchange Program by facilitating online meetings and on-site visits for twinning and exchange partners.
- Propose and implement one tailor-made improvement activity in Madaba. This activity should come out of the Twinning and Exchange Program, drawing on the successes and Lessons Learned from other cities in the wider MedCities program.
- Submit a formal summary of all activities.
- Deliver a PowerPoint presentation to all relevant municipal employees, summarizing the waste management plan and lessons learned.
